Biography

In the course of my scientific work, I used different diffraction methods and imaging techniques as well as spectroscopic and computational approaches to investigate structural aspects and their impact on physical properties of inorganic and organic materials.
Starting in 1997 I worked on the development of an efficient, reliable and easy method for structure analysis of nano crystals. In 2007 automated electron diffraction tomography (ADT) was born and the first ab-initio crystal structure solution from a nano crystal could be published. Nowadays, the use of electron diffraction tomography (EDT) is an accepted approach and has been applied for solving crystal structures of a large variety of materials as well as crystallographic challenging problems.

Today, I am affiliated additonally at the Technical University Darmstadt, where EDT has been established as well.
